An unforgettable musical experience is coming to Orcas! The internationally renowned Miró Quartet will perform one of the greatest musical gifts ever created – the 16 string quartets of Beethoven. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to enjoy Beethoven’s extraordinary artistic journey in five unforgettable concerts. The concerts will be performed over 5 nights, June 23 – 29, 2014: June 23, 24, 25 and 28 at 7:00 pm, closing concert Sunday June 29 at 4:00 pm. *See below for specific concert information. The Miró Quartet, comprised of violinists Daniel Ching and William Fedkenheuer, violist John Largess and cellist Joshua Gindele, have become favorites to Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival audiences. They perform throughout the world on the most important chamber music series and on the most prestigious concert stages, garnering accolades from critics and audiences alike.
Artistic Director Aloysia Friedmann and the Festival are extremely proud and excited to bring the Miró to Orcas to perform the complete Beethoven “cycle.” It’s a major musical event audiences are sure to treasure. Jon Kimura Parker welcome the legendary Pablo Ziegler Classical Tango Quartet, Canada’s celebrated Gryphon Trio, baritone Philip Cutlip, renowned violinists Andrés Cárdenes and Chee-Yun, cellists Bion Tsang and Anne Martindale Williams and other amazing musicians. It will be a musical family celebration August 19 and 20 when three famous pianists, Jon Kimura “Jackie” Parker, James Parker and Ian Parker perform for the much-anticipated “Orcas~trations: The Three Parkers” Concert.
The 17th Annual Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival is comprised of 10 evening concerts, Hamlet concerts in three idyllic island communities, a Senior Program, Children’s Concert and a concert across the water on Lopez Island. The Festival also features Music Lovers Seminars, in-depth seminars with highly regarded lecturers from the Northwest and guest artists, and Pre-Concert Talks.
Following the concerts, patrons are invited to attend Post-Concert receptions, where they’re greeted with cocktail cuisine and the rare opportunity to mingle with the musicians.
