Olivia Marckx

Cellist Olivia Marckx was a top prizewinner at the 2022 Coeur d’Alene National Young Artists Competition, and has won the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival competition and the KING-FM Young Artist award. She also was a 2017 YoungArts winner and received a Jack Kent Cooke Young Artists Scholarship. Since her orchestral debut at age 11, Ms. Marckx has soloed with several orchestras, including the Seattle Symphony, Port Angeles Symphony, and San Fernando Valley Symphony. She has played at summer festivals, including the Perlman Chamber Music Program and the Aspen Music Festival, Seattle Chamber Music Society, Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival, and Colburn Chamber Music Society, where she has collaborated with artists such as Jon Kimura Parker, Noah Bendix-Balgley, and Demarre McGill. Ms. Marckx studies orchestration with Grammy-nominated Tim Simonec and is a student at the Colburn Conservatory under the tutelage of Clive Greensmith. Next season she will solo with the Cascade Symphony and also perform the Brahms Double Concerto with her sister, violinist Charlotte Marckx, and the Colburn Orchestra.
