Robyn Bollinger

Daring, versatile, and charismatic American violinist Robyn Bollinger was appointed Concertmaster of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra by Music Director Jader Bignamini in 2022. Currently the youngest concertmaster in the country, she has also been a frequent Guest Concertmaster with the Pittsburgh Symphony. She is a former member of the democratically run Boston-based chamber orchestra A Far Cry.

Ms. Bollinger has been recognized for her innovation and entrepreneurship with a prestigious fellowship from the Lenore Annenberg Arts Fellowship Fund for her multimedia project CIACCONA: The Bass of Time, and with an Entrepreneurial Musicianship Grant from New England Conservatory for her groundbreaking Project Paganini. She was recently awarded an Early-Career Musician Fellowship from Dumbarton Oaks Museum to research and prepare her next multimedia project, ENCORE: Just One More.

Having made her Philadelphia Orchestra debut at age 12, Ms. Bollinger regularly performs as soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician across the United States with the Boston Pops and the symphony orchestras of California, Charleston, and Knoxville, among others. She is a returning participant at the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont and has been featured in tours with Musicians from Marlboro. She has appeared with the Chameleon Arts Ensemble in Boston, the Boston Chamber Music Society, Mistral Music, Spruce Peak Chamber Music Society, and Glissando Music. 

Ms. Bollinger is a devoted educator, having presented masterclasses at Cincinnati Conservatory, the Longy School of Music, University of California Bakersfield, and the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, and is a former faculty member at New England Conservatory Preparatory School in Boston. Ms. Bollinger performs on the c. 1718 “Bostonian” Stradivarius violin on loan from a private donor arranged by the Reuning Artist Society. For more information, please see robynbollingerviolin.com.
