COVID-19 Updates (4/2/2020)

As rapid changes surrounding the COVID-19 virus have taken over world news and our daily lives, Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival continues to make plans for sharing music with our audiences in more diverse ways than ever during the 2020 season. Artistic Director Aloysia Friedmann has put together an extraordinary 23rd Festival, and we look forward to August 7 – 22, which will be filled with powerful and moving music performed by many familiar artists and several more who will make their first OICMF appearances.

While we remain optimistic about our summer Festival, world events may prevent us from bringing our series of concerts to theater audiences on Orcas Island in August, so Aloysia is working on novel and creative ways enable us to still present the Festival’s music for our patrons.

Due to the potential of the COVID-19 outbreak not being over soon enough, the decision has been made that the Miró Quartet’s June 17 – 25 performances of Beethoven’s complete string quartet cycle will not occur before live audiences on Orcas Island. Please don’t worry just yet about not hearing these concerts or getting a ticket refund, though! We are exploring a way for our Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival music lovers to attend these live Miró Quartet performances from the safety of your homes.

Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival understands that ongoing changes to the public health situation make it difficult for our patrons to make plans. However, we still encourage you to purchase your Festival tickets when they are released. Your ticket purchases for all OICMF events during the 2020 season are fully refundable for any concert or event that does not occur, or if you are unable to attend. You may instead choose to turn all or part of your ticket purchases into a contribution that supports ongoing productions of the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival.

The health and safety of our patrons, artists, volunteers, and staff are our primary concerns. We will provide updates in the coming weeks on our website, email newsletter, and through local media sources should there be any changes to the Festival’s plans.

We wish you good health and look forward to seeing all of you as soon as possible!
