Music Among Friends
Friday, August 3, 7:30pm / Saturday, August 4, 5:30pm
We open our 21st Season with the greatest work written for piano four hands and finish with the stunningly beautiful Brahms G Major viola quintet, in which Artistic Director Aloysia Friedmann surrounds herself with musical friends. Mozart and Turina round out this elegant program.

Channel Crossing
Tuesday, August 7, 7:30pm / Wednesday, August 8, 5:30pm
The European Union waves to the United Kingdom in this program, beginning with a classic Haydn string Quartet and the Czech flavors of the Dvorak String Sextet, and culminating with the burnished and quintessentially British sensibilities of the Elgar Piano Quintet. The Festival welcomes mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade and pianist Laurana Mitchelmore in a tribute to Laurana’s late husband, Charles Mitchelmore. They will perform works by Jake Heggie, Gabriel Fauré, and Francis Poulenc.

Orcas~trations: The Brandenburg Concertos
Friday, August 10, 7:30pm / Saturday, August 11, 5:30pm
Johann Sebastian Bach takes center stage in a program that Aloysia Friedmann has wanted to present for two decades: the complete Brandenburg Concertos. These concertos are considered amongst the greatest achievements of the Baroque era, and festival favorite Jeffrey Kahane leads an all-star ensemble from the harpsichord.

Aloysia Friedmann, Founder and Artistic Director

Alyosia

Ms. Friedmann is a violinist and violist, whose broad-ranging career has included tours in Japan, Europe, South America and the U.S., performances with New York’s most prestigious musical ensembles, and a special onstage role on Broadway. Trained at The Juilliard School and the University of Washington, Friedmann plays on a Grancino violin and a Grancino viola.
