OICMF 29th Summer Concert Season
August 7 – 22, 2026
We are excited to announce our 29th Festival, August 7 through 22, 2026!
Artistic Director Aloysia Friedmann has gathered a lineup of brilliant musicians to perform in 11 concerts of contemporary works, hidden gems, and familiar chestnuts. Five concerts are each performed two times, the first at 7:00 and the second the following evening at 5:00. The second concert of each pair is also recorded for online streaming the next day, with viewing access for three days. The Miró Quartet returns as the Festival Quartet-in-Residence for the first two concert pairs, and four pianos will be onstage for our middle weekend concerts with performers Jon Kimura Parker, Zhenni Li-Cohen, Lisa Bergman, and Adam Stern at the keyboards. The Festival brings renowned mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke the following week to sing a recent piece by Jake Heggie. Sasha is also featured in our final pair of concerts and the August 20 Lopez Island concert of music by Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann, and Johannes Brahms. In addition to Sasha Cooke, new artists to the Festival include harpist Allegra Lilly, double bassist Robin Kesselman, violinists Matthew Cohen and Nathan Olson, and violists Matthew Cohen, Eric Nowlin, and Antoine Tamestit. We look forward to the return of violinists Zachary DePue, Alexandra Preucil, and Eric Liu, and cellists Ani Aznavoorian and Lachezar Kostov.
Besides the evening concerts, we have a lineup of free events, including three Pre-Concert Talks featuring a local stringed instrument maker, new composers with local connections, and the renowned composer Jake Heggie. Our Children’s Concert takes place during the Farmers Market on August 15 on the Eastsound Stage on the Village Green and on August 14 at the Lopez Center Pavilion, and our popular Open Rehearsal for Seniors is on Friday, August 21.

Orcas Island is a very popular destination in August, so plan ahead! Ferry Reservations are highly recommended for travel to and from the San Juan Islands, and accommodations can be found at the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce.
