Violinist Nicolas Danielson has forged a distinguished career as both a classical and tango musician. Raised in an Argentine-American family in Hartford, Connecticut, he moved to Philadelphia at age 13 to study at the Curtis Institute of Music with the legendary Ivan Galamian. During this time, he won the Philadelphia Orchestra’s concerto competition and performed with the orchestra at age 15.
Mr. Danielson is featured in Stravinsky’s Concertino with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra in the Grammy winning recording Shadow Dances, and in multiple Latin Grammy winning recordings with the Pedro Giraudo Tango Quartet, the Gustavo Casenave Quartet, and pianist Fernando Otero. His duo with bandoneón legend Daniel Binelli was nominated for the Latin Grammy in consecutive years for their albums Nostalgias and Marrón y Azul. He is also the Associate Concertmaster of the New York City Ballet Orchestra, with whom he performs frequently as solo violinist.
