Carl de Boor
Treasurer
Carl holds a PhD in Mathematics, University of Michigan and is Professor Emeritus in the Departments of Mathematics and of Computer Science at the University Wisconsin-Madison. Additionally, he serves as an Affiliate Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Washington. Born in Stolp, Germany (now Slupsk, Poland), raised in Schwerin (then East Germany), studied in Hamburg (then West Germany) and at Harvard, he is a member of five national academies and in 2003 he received the National Medal of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science.
Carl has served on the Investment Committee of the Orcas Island Community Foundation and is president of the Buck Ridge NW & Sucia Water Users Association. After joining the OICMF Board in 2010, he was appointed treasurer in 2012 and has vastly contributed to financial innovations throughout his tenure. As treasurer, he also currently serves on the finance and ad hoc compensation committees. Carl is an avid OICMF supporter, attending all of the concerts, hosting artist homestays, and traveling to Austin, Texas, to hear the Miró Quartet play.
